Elder Scrolls Online Giving Away Xbox Controller, QuakeCon Twitch Drops

While this year’s QuakeCon event will be held online, The Elder Scrolls Online is offering unique digital and physical rewards for those who attend.

To celebrate the start of QuakeCon 2021, The Elder Scrolls Online is offering some truly adventurous rewards through social media. QuakeCon is an annual event held by Zenimax Media, owner of game developers such as Bethesda Game Studios and id Software. This year’s QuakeCon 2021 event, held digitally due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19, will cover many of the company’s biggest games including Elder Scrolls Online and Doom Eternal.

The latest piece of Elder Scrolls Online content was Blackwood, the second installment in 2021’s overarching Gates of Oblivion storyline. Launching in June, Blackwood included a host of new content such as a companion system, a new Trial, new raids and a more in-depth gear upgrade system. The expansion’s story focused on the destructive deity Mehrunes Dagon, who many fans known as the ultimate antagonist of 2006’s Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. New locations, such as the Blackwood Bogs and Black Marsh, were also a part of the DLC drop. While reviews of The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood did criticize the DLC for its repetitious fetch quests and shallow companion system, the expansion was largely well-regarded.

To kick off QuakeCon 2021, The Elder Scrolls Online has revealed a number of rewards available to those who participate in the event via social media. Digital in-game rewards can be obtained by those who link their Elder Scrolls Online and Twitch accounts. While watching ESO streams for QuakeCon, linked Twitch users will be able to snag prizes such as a new Flame Atronach Pack Wolf pet. Meanwhile, a physical reward can be earned by Twitter users in the form of a custom Gates of Oblivion Xbox controller. This stylish gaming companion can potentially be won by any Twitter users who follow The Elder Scrolls Online and then retweet and reply to the associated post.

Despite launching back in 2014, The Elder Scrolls Online continues to receive support from developer Zenimax Online Studios. The upcoming Waking Flame graphical update will bring some major improvements and changes to the game, particularly for those who play on current-generation consoles. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S gamers will soon be able to activate dynamic resolution scaling for performance mode, which scales resolution up or down based on the console’s current performance. A new HDR mode will also be added, taking advantage of the current-gen consoles’ increased graphical range. Waking Flame is coming to The Elder Scrolls Online on August 23 for PC and August 31 for consoles, with the game’s roadmap of DLC beyond 2021 currently being kept a mystery.

QuakeCon is a yearly opportunity for Zenimax and Bethesda to share news and interact with fans in a small and intimate setting, and the digital nature of this year’s event is likely disappointing for those who would rather attend in person. However, the inclusion of both digital and physical rewards for The Elder Scrolls Online fans is a perfect way to make QuakeCon 2021 feel a bit closer to events of the past. While there will be no bustling crowds or in-person panels, fans can still take home some Elder Scrolls Online souvenirs.
